Dearest FCC Norwood Family,

This week we honor the Class of 2020 and we pray for their families, even as we pray for the Holy Spirit to come once again this Pentecost.  Many thanks to Beth Amis who created a beautiful slide show of pictures to honor the seniors, and to students and parents who contributed to this week’s service.

As we continue in these challenging days, may we pray for peace and justice, for health and comfort, for God’s Spirit to be poured out on all, the young and old, from every race and language.  The story of Pentecost reminds us that the church is a place of diversity and reconciliation.  I pray we will be a community that continues to seek the Spirit’s leading.

In addition to sharing this week’s links to worship at FCC Norwood, I imagine that many of you (like me) are deeply saddened and disturbed by the killings of People of Color in recent weeks and months (and years, and decades).  The wider United Church of Christ will be airing a worship service titled “The Cross and the Lynching Tree” (titled after the James Cone book that many of us read this Lent) at 6 pm tonight.  You may want view it, or learn more about what the UCC is doing to work for racial justice.  The link is here: https://www.ucc.org/the_cross_and_the_lynching_tree

I am sending love and God’s comfort in these days.  I trust that you have read the important information from our moderator about continuing to refrain from in-person worship in the sanctuary until the fall.  Please keep an eye out for important communications about how we will be worshipping outside of the sanctuary virtually, and on the church property in weeks ahead.

Praying you are well,
Pastor Michele
