Sunday, May 24, 2020 Worship Service

Dear FCC Norwood Friends,

Greetings and peace be with you in Christ.  I continue to pray that you are well and doing the best that you can in these days.

Today’s worship service centers around Christ’s Ascension, how the church is the body of Christ, and also around Memorial Day Prayers.  While my spoken prayers focus on our remembering those who have died, please also continue to pray for those who are sick, struggling physically, psychologically, or financially, and for the people in Michigan impacted by severe flooding this week.

I invite your prayers also for our church as leadership discerns our path forward.  As you are likely aware, churches have been included in the first phase of reopening in Massachusetts.  The state guidelines for returning to our building are considerable, and I do not want us to rush the process.  Additionally, the Southern New England Conference of the United Church of Christ has urged churches not to reopen hastily (acknowledging that we love one another and sincerely look forward to being in the sanctuary once again).  The Church Council will be meeting this Thursday evening virtually to discuss these matters, and I sincerely appreciate your prayers for them.

How grateful I am that we are the body of Christ, Christ’s hands and feet working in the world, and eyes of compassion looking out on the world.

Feel free to gather a stone, candle, and snack, so that we can pray and  break bread together in our homes.

Blessings in your week,
Pastor Michele
