Palm Sunday, April 5, 2020 Worship Service
Dear FCC Norwood Friends,
I send my love and greetings to you as we enter Holy Week at the First Congregational Church in Norwood, and I pray that our worship will be a blessed and meaningful time for each of you. I also wanted to be sure to encourage you, if you are able, to take a walk today. Let it be a prayerful Palm Sunday walk in which you pray for your neighbors, for our communities and world. For me, Palm Sunday brings memories of church processions and joyful chaos. Let your walk be your procession and your way of welcoming Christ at the beginning of this Holy Week, perhaps with less pageantry, but still with a sense that you lay your coats and branches down to welcome holiness and the very presence of Christ.
I also want to encourage you to be gentle with yourselves this week. Holy Week carries with it a full range of emotions, and if you are like me, you have already been experiencing a wide variety of emotions in these pandemic days. Be tender with yourselves and those whom you love. Take time to pray. Cry when you need to cry. Rejoice and give thanks when you hear the stories that give you hope. Take the lessons of love and forgiveness, the lessons of devotion and self-giving to heart, and know that God is with you, ever loving and leading us to live.
In peace,
Pastor Michele
